Just completed this portrait for a Newport couple who are in the throes of renovating their recently purchased home with this fantastic stained glass window on the staircase that they wanted included. A bit of a challenge, but fun!
Commissioned Portrait of Dr. Paul C. Houston, Newport, RI
Portrait of Dr. Paul C. Houston commissioned by his wife, Dolores.
Dr. Houston was a beloved physician in Newport, RI, who passed away in August of 2011. Dolores gave me a number of photographs of Dr. Houston that I used to create this portrait. I especially enjoyed working to bring out Paul's spirit as well as representing the various textures that were in his chair and clothes. His hand upon the book gave a nice accent and balance to the painting.
